The shape of these lamps recalls the old candle holders with handles, commonly called in Italian "bugia", a simplified name of the African city Bidgiaya which supplied most of the wax used to make candles! This anecdote today also accompanies the "modern" Bugia: a table or wall lamp with single or double light, as simple as it is ingenious.
